Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center

Services and Programs

At Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center, we are deeply committed to improving health and health care in Windsor and the surround area. As a “Critical Access Hospital” designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, we offer a range of services and programs designed to most effectively meet primary and specialty care needs in our rural community.

Mt. Ascutney Hospital includes acute and transitional care units that provide medical, surgical and transitional care for patients of all ages. Our dedicated medical and support staff work as a team, together with the patient and family, to ensure the highest quality of care and make the hospital experience as pleasant as possible.

Our surgical services emphasize personal and individualized care. Experienced surgeons perform general and specialized surgeries and procedures for gynecologic, urologic, orthopaedic, ophthalmologic and other conditions. We emphasize patient education, so patients arrive informed about their procedures, and leave with written and verbal discharge instructions that include pain management, comfort measures and follow-up care.

Mt. Ascutney Hospital's Emergency Department is open 24-hours, every day, and has a consistent reputation for short wait times. Almost all patients are seen within 30 minutes of arrival, with the most seriously ill patients seen even sooner.

We work closely with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and other area facilities to ensure that our emergency patients have immediate transportation to other hospitals if needed.

Mt. Ascutney Hospital includes a highly regarded Rehabilitation Unit and hosts a Healing Arts Clinic with complementary and alternative medicine practitioners.

Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center also provides outpatient primary and specialty services at our main campus in Windsor, Vermont, and at the Ottauquechee Health Center in Woodstock, Vermont. Services include dermatology, gastroenterology, gynecology, orthopedics, psychology, and urology, among many others.

Our Pediatrics Department offers well-child exams and a complete range of preventative and acute care services for infants through adolescents. We emphasize caring for the whole child, and focus on all aspects of wellness from nutrition to behavior and development.

Our Oncology Program provides personal and skilled care for all types of cancer, under the experienced leadership of oncologist, Letha Mills, MD. Our highly trained staff provides chemotherapy and other cancer therapies, making it possible for patients to receive high-quality cancer care right in our community.
