Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) has announced that James Newhall, a Housekeeper and Janitor at the Hospital, has been chosen as Employee of the Month for June, 2021. This is Newhall’s second time receiving the honor; he was first selected as Employee of the Month in January, 2017. The monthly award recognizes employees who have demonstrated sustained service excellence in their respective departments and have displayed compassion, a caring approach, and continuous hard work within their community.
As a Housekeeper/Janitor, Newhall performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned Hospital areas.
According to his supervisor Rebecca Chase, “James has gone above and beyond. His hard work and dedication to keeping our patients safe and the hospital clean are an example of his work ethic. Recently, James has also become a Respiratory Fit Test Ambassador and has exhibited incredible effort to ensure staff are fitted safely with the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, even when the supply chain changes unexpectedly. He unselfishly spends time training and connecting with employees from all departments to conduct fit testing. James has a humble manner with everyone at MAHHC and never makes anyone feel rushed or less deserving of his time. He is always willing to put in extra hours to get the job done and his hard work does not go unnoticed. Congratulations and thank you, James!”
Newhall resides in Springfield, Vermont. He has been a member of the MAHHC staff since January 27, 2016.
