Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC), a Dartmouth Health member, has announced that Amanda Allen, a dietary aid for MAHHC’s Nutritional Services department, who supports the kitchen staff by cleaning and sorting dishes and silverware, has been named the hospital’s Employee of the Month for February 2024. The hospital recognizes employees who consistently exceed expectations, with reliability and daily dedication to their work.
Allen has been employed by MAHHC for 20 years. With ongoing workforce challenges in the healthcare and other service industries, Allen is often called upon to take on additional duties in the kitchen. Hospital cooks and dietary staff rely on Allen’s precision and timeliness, making sure their tools are cleaned properly, organized and ready for use. Allen’s colleagues in the Dietary Team nominated her for this recognition.
“We are extremely lucky to have Amanda on our team. Whether it is ensuring the pans and pots are spotless and ready to go, the food carriers are clean, or the silverware is rolled, we can always rely on Amanda,” said Bernardo Coelho, general manager of Nutrition and Environmental Services. “Amanda meets every challenge with a smile or a laugh, always ready to help no matter what the task is. Amanda is truly our unsung hero. Without her, none of us could do our jobs.”
Allen is a resident of Windsor, Vermont.
