The Lay Ministry program
We believe that meeting the spiritual needs of patients is an important part of their healing process. We can meet these needs through the presence of well-trained and sensitive volunteers who provide pastoral care. The interfaith program helps patients find their own strengths and resources in a spiritual and emotional way.
The lay ministry program recruits, screens, trains and supports volunteer chaplains. These volunteer chaplains provide a listening ear and give comfort in a nondenominational nature to hospital patients experiencing distress or requesting spiritual support. For more information and requirement details about volunteering for the Lay Ministry Program, please contact Volunteers In Action.
Chaplain services
The hospital chaplain is available for patients, hospital visitors and staff. The hospital chapel is open 24 hours a day. Everyone is welcome and prayer requests may be entered in the chapel book.
