The Nursing Pathway Program (NPP) is designed to offer entry-level healthcare workers the opportunity to earn professional nursing licensure while earning a salary and benefits. Successful candidates can achieve Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in as few as three years, depending upon prior experience and education.
The program, made possible by partnerships with several organizations, utilizes talent pipeline management, nursing registered apprenticeship and employer loan repayment strategies to educate and fund skilled nurse education and licensure for employees working in the healthcare field.
Participant benefits
Participants in NPP have the opportunity to earn a salary and benefits, while gaining the education necessary for professional licensure. NPP provides candidates with a career path, planned skill advancement opportunities and potential pay increases. Participants are offered financial aid and grants for higher education to reduce any loan amount. A short-term loan will be repaid by Mt. Ascutney Hospital & Health Center for a period of employment, resulting in no upfront costs for the individual.
Candidates in NPP can expect to receive the support needed to reduce barriers to education and work.
Program timeline
NPP offers qualified candidates a path to obtaining RN licensure in as few as three years, depending upon a candidate's licensure and previous college credits at the start of the program.
Program start
Qualified candidates may be offered a position as a Mental Health Technician or Licensed Nurse Assistant, with training and benefits, at the beginning of the program. The entry point into the program and subsequent steps may be adjusted based on the candidate's current licensure and previous college credits.
Those selected for participation must pass relevant assessment or pre-assessment exams at the Community College of Vermont (CCV).
Following completion of assessments at CCV, students must apply for health science core classes at CCV between April 5 and August 13. Classes begin in the fall semester, which is the start of Year 1 courses.
